Reference 7296 is a dress watch by Vacheron Constantin, one of the oldest manufactures of Swiss fine watchmaking. A round case with a slim profile, hours and minutes only, restrained dimensions: a watch conceived for elegance, not for complications.
The model
The reference was made chiefly in 18k yellow gold and, in some variants, in white gold, like this example. The 33 mm diameter is the typical size of the period. The dial was offered in several versions, often with applied indices and gold hands; some examples feature particular finishes, such as a linen texture.
The movement
The movement is mechanical with manual winding. Several calibres are documented in examples that have passed through auction, including the K1001/T and the K1014.
For the collector
Sobriety, finishing and the name of the maison give the 7296 strong collector appeal, combined with proportions that still make it easy to wear today.
