The Zenith “Stellina” is a classic and much-admired model from the Swiss Maison, datable to between the late 1960s and the 1970s. The nickname, Italian for “little star”, comes from the small four-pointed star logo that appears on the dial, above the Zenith name.
The model
The steel case measures 36 mm, a classic size for the period. The dark dial, anthracite or slate grey, has a sunburst finish that creates metallic reflections as the light changes. The watch shows hours, minutes and central seconds, with a date window between 4 and 5 o’clock; the crystal is acrylic and the strap leather.
The movement
The movement is automatic. Models of this type are often fitted with in-house Zenith calibres such as the 2542 PC or the 2552 PC. For the collector the Stellina is a natural entry point into vintage Zenith watchmaking: wearable dimensions, a sober design and one detail, the star, that makes it instantly recognisable.
