This 1950s Zenith “Stellina”, reference 114, has a square case in 18k gold measuring 29 x 38 mm. The white dial shows hours, minutes, seconds and date; the domed acrylic (plexiglass) crystal and the leather strap remain faithful to the period design.
The model
The shaped case, different from the usual round case, is the feature that defines the watch: the squared lines of the gold frame the white dial, while the indications remain those of a watch for everyday wear, with the date completing hours, minutes and seconds. The domed crystal follows the case and softens its profile.
For the collector
Gold, a shaped case and compact dimensions: the qualities that make this example an elegant and discreet watch, to be worn beneath a shirt cuff, and a testament to mid-twentieth-century taste.
