This 1960s Longines has a 35 mm round stainless steel case, in the minimal, elegant style of the maison’s classic collections. The black dial carries slender Roman numerals printed in white, in sharp contrast with the dark ground, the winged hourglass logo at 12 o’clock and the words “Swiss Made” at 6 o’clock. Hours, minutes and seconds are the only indications.
The crystal is acrylic (plexiglass) and the strap is reptile-effect leather. An aesthetic of this kind survives to this day in Longines’ La Grande Classique collection, which retains its slim profile and restraint.
