This Tank signed LeCoultre dates from the 1920s: a rectangular gold-filled case of 23 × 35 mm, a dial with hours, minutes and small seconds at 6 o’clock, an acrylic (plexiglass) crystal and a leather strap.
LeCoultre and Jaeger-LeCoultre
The name LeCoultre, without Jaeger, appears on historical watches or on those intended for specific markets, the American market in particular. Modern models instead bear the name Jaeger-LeCoultre, the Swiss manufacture founded in 1833 and known for collections such as the Reverso. Many watches signed LeCoultre were produced in particular versions and do not appear in catalogues or public archives.
For the collector
Reference T466720 is scarcely documented, which is not unusual for watches of this period and provenance. For precisely this reason it is an interesting piece for those who collect the lesser-known LeCoultre production and the rectangular form of the earliest wristwatches.
