A Lemania military chronograph bearing the AMI marking, associated with the Aeronautica Militare Italiana, the Italian Air Force. At its heart is the Lemania calibre 5100, one of the most robust and reliable movements ever used in professional and military service: these watches accompanied pilots and flying units, where precision, toughness and immediate legibility were required.
The movement
The Lemania 5100 is a chronograph calibre known for its robustness and for a rational construction designed for production and servicing. It beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and pairs the chronograph, with central seconds hand, with minute and hour counters and a calendar showing day and date. It is still highly regarded by collectors today.
The model
The 40 × 43 mm stainless steel case is designed to withstand the heavy use typical of the military environment. The dark dial gives priority to legibility: luminous indices and numerals, clearly separated counters, day and date in a window. The crystal is acrylic (plexiglass), the strap leather. Its service history and solid construction make it a much sought-after model.
