The Revue Thommen 5531 is a skeleton watch: the movement is worked so as to reveal, through the dial, the bridges, wheels and balance. Produced between the 1980s and 1990s, it combines the house’s Swiss tradition with an interpretation of the watch that brings the mechanics to the fore.
The model
In a skeleton watch the dial coincides with the movement itself: the time is read above the working gears, and the contrast between the technical element and the elegant lines of the case is what makes the piece interesting. The gold-plated case measures 35 mm; the crystal is sapphire and the transparent caseback allows the movement to be observed from the back as well. The strap is reptile.
For the collector
A watch for those who like to see the mechanics at work, in compact dimensions and with a case also suited to formal wear.
